The Radio Flyer Red Wagon Mazda

The Radio Flyer Red Wagon Mazda

Sarah Palin may be the most paramount person to come out of Wasilla, Alaska, but Fred Keller and Jody take care of deserve some attention, too. Alaska's state motto may be "North to the Future", but this integrate has turned back the clock with their very unique 1976 Mazda pickup truck. They have transformed the ho-hum vehicle into something very memorable--an oversized version of the excellent Radio Flyer red wagon!

Inspired by a trip to a car show that featured other homage to the Radio Flyer red wagon in the form of a hot rod, the integrate decided to make something special from an old truck that they were not using. Keller's background in airplane building came in handy as they started turning the truck into a heavy toy using tools and supplies normally reserved for boat and plane manufacturing.

It took them about a year to customize the vehicle, which is now turning heads on Wasilla streets and livening up local parades. The old Mazda now features wheels that look just like the ones you remember from your childhood toy. The cab is chopped to create a convertible vehicle. The paint job mimics every information of that on the excellent Radio Flyer red wagon. Keller and take care of have created a one-of-a-kind tribute. The vehicle even features an eight-foot-long black "handle".

The duo's creativity was not microscopic to the idea itself. The fine points of its carrying out are pretty impressive, too! Detergent bottles and old hub caps became part of the cruiser's wheels. The steering wheel is easily a part from an primary Radio Flyer wagon.

Somehow, they managed to pull it all off it in a way that left them road legal. That is right, Keller and take care of can take their giant Radio Flyer red wagon to the grocery store without any fear of a ticket from one of Wasilla's finest. In fact, the integrate often takes to the highway in the super-toy, production the hundred-mile round trip to and from Anchorage in style. They claim the truck/wagon features solid handling. They do not drive it year-round, though. Their wagon is, of course, a convertible.

The Keller/Foster Radio Flyer red wagon truck has not yet reached the heights of popularity enjoyed by assorted Batmobile clones or the infamous Oscar Mayer wiener truck, but it is not hard to dream the truck developing that kind of recognition--along with invitations to events all over the country--in short order.

After all, the modified Mazda is a tribute to a wildly beloved toy with cross-generational appeals. It harkens back to that mythical, innocent, "simpler time" that seems to preoccupy so many people. It is incredibly well made and, most of all, it is fun!
